During my twenty three years of career as a veterinarian (including three of exclusive emergency medicine) I have seen too many cases of pets left in parked vehicles while that ended up dying.
Please, please, please…I can not emphasize this more…..do not leave your pets or children in your car unattended.
On a 78 degree day, the temperature inside a parked car can soar to 100-120 degrees in just minutes, let alone a 90 degree day, where inside temperatures will reach 160 or more. Your pet can die within 15 minutes.
If you see a dog left alone in a hot car, take down the car’s color, model, make and license plate number, have the owner paged in the nearest building , or call police. Have someone keep an eye on the dog, and don’t leave the scene until the situation has been resolved.
